July 20, 2011

Well, it's hard to believe it's already mid July. I feel like time is going by so fast when you get older. In August, it marks six months until I turn 30. I feel the way Julie Powell did in the movie Julie & Julia. Feeling like you never complete anything and desiring to complete some sort of project. However, something amazing happened this past March that I thought would never happen again: I met someone. Not only that, I fell in love with him. This year has brought on so many new feelings for me and truly knowing what it feels like to be in love. I truly love him with all of my heart and am so excited to see what the future has in store for him and I. Another positive is that he helps with the dishes! YAY! ha ha. He said to me that "well you did the cooking, I can do the dishes." :) Or something similar to that. We take equal part in the clean up which makes it more enjoyable. It is hard having him live in Penn Yan and I live in Ithaca but we make it work. I love going there on the weekends when he off and other times we have with each other when he comes to Ithaca. One thing I'm most excited about is having someone to cook for. Someone who appreciates the hard work that goes into it and really loves the finished product. Just this past weekend we went to a Community Yard Sale at my church. There I found this huge cookbook called The Treasury of Christmas: More than 750 Delicious Recipes for the holidays! It was only 2 dollars. He was so sweet and bought it for me. :) Last year I was really inspired to start a cooking blog after watching Julie and Julia. However, I was cooking so much that I ended up getting tired of it. My good friend Bev had the best idea. She cooks/blogs on the weekends and by doing that you don't get burnt out by it. This time I'm doing it more realistically, similar to Bev. Just making a couple of recipes a week that way it's still enjoyable. I can not believe starting in Aug there are 5 months until Christmas! I'm hoping that by trying these recipes out now I'll feel good about making them at Christmas time!
This way they are unique recipes to put up not just copying and pasting them from Food Network. That is a pretty basic way of blogging. It's not a bad way but I really want to try and make this blog unique and different from all the other thousands of cooking blogs there are on the Internet. I hope you'll follow along and even try some of these recipes yourself! Let the cooking begin!
